This centerpiece, Rainbow Calsilica, is known for its colorful, swirling, banding patterns, and is a manmade stone. If you're familiar with my work, you know I normally work in 100% natural stones, but i occasionally make exceptions, and this one was a gift.
The gemstone beads are all natural however!
The pendant is Rainbow Calsilica.
The gem beads, in order are blue Lapis Lazuli, teal Amazonite, Turquoise, and Blue Apatite.
The tiny seed beads are both Japanese and Czech glass in a variety of sizes.
The lobster clasp, and chain and crimp beads are the only metal on this piece, and they are Sterling Silver.
The pendant, including the beaded bail, is 2 1/8 inches long.
The centerpiece is 7/8 inches wide.
The necklace length is your choice: just choose what length you'd like from the drop-down menu, (up to 24 inches at no extra cost), plus I add a 1.5 inch extender chain on each piece.
Your new necklace comes packaged in a pretty, sturdy cardboard gift box, with cotton padding.
US customers: I will ship your new necklace First Class, via USPS, for free, with insurance and tracking.
International customers: shipping cost is automatically calculated depending on where you live.
How it's made:
The setting is made of tiny glass seed beads, which are hand stitched, one bead to the next, with a fine beading needle, using a heavy duty 6 lb test-strength, spun, braided, nylon beading thread. There are multiple plies of this thread in every bead! I start making a netting to form the back side of the bezel, and then, while holding the stone in place, I stitch one bead at a time around the perimeter of the cabochon, slowly building the beaded bezel, tailor fitted to each unique gemstone, until it is encased. My beadwork is NOT attached to the stone, just surrounding it, like a well fitted bezel.
The straps are strung on cable, which is made of 49 strands of stainless steel microwire, coated with nylon to protect it from abrasion, rated at a minimum of 10 lb test strength.
When you look at these, bear in mind, I am NOT a photographer. I guarantee this is prettier in person!! I took these photos in natural daylight and do my best to accurately portray the colors as they look in real life.
